The following members of Dr. Sameer Sheth's lab were offered opportunities to present their research at leading international conferences recently -

  • Dr. Nicole Provenza (Postdoctoral fellow)
    • Invited to speak at the Society for Neuroscience mini-symposium in November on "Intracranial neural biomarkers of response to deep brain stimulation for obsessive-compulsive disorder"
    • Invited panel speaker at the Eastern Deep Brain Stimulation Think Tank held in November 2023. The title of her talk was "Ethological Investigations in obsessive-compulsive disorder."

  • Katya Kabotyanski (MD/PhD student)
    • Poster and oral presentation at the Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS), Washington DC, in September 2023 on the "Cost-effectiveness analysis of deep brain stimulation vs. treatment-as-usual for treatment-resistant depression."
    • Poster presentation at the Society for Neuroscience (SfN), Washington, DC, in November 2023 titled, "An intracranial neurofeedback platform to measure and modulate mood in human neurosurgical patients."

    Jiayang Xiao (PhD student)

    • Presented a talk at the Society for Neuroscience in November on "Beta activity in anterior cingulate cortex mediates reward bias."

  • Gabriel Reyes (Medical Research Pathway student)
    • Presented a poster at the American Epilepsy Society annual meeting in Orlando, Florida. His poster was titled, "Hippocampal Oscillations Are Biomarkers for Seizure Severity During Responsive Neurostimulation."

  • Sandy Reddy (Medical Research Pathway student)
    • Presented a talk and a poster at the meeting of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons in September. The title of those presentations were "Effect of Chronic Deep Brain Stimulation on Ventral Capsule/Ventral Striatum-Specific Circadian Rhythm in Refractory Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder."
