Rice University engineers in collaboration with Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children's Hospital neurosurgeons have developed the smallest implantable brain stimulator demonstrated in a human patient.


Dr. Chao invited to join the editorial board of Annals of Neurology


Dr. Hsiao Tuan Chao, a child neurologist and principal investigator at the Cain Labs for Pediatric Neurology and Jan and Dan Duncan Neurological Research Institute at Texas Children's Hospital, was recently invited to join the editorial board of the Annals of Neurology, one of the top journals for neurology.


A graduate student in the Xue lab receives NRSA award


Kevin Jiang, a Cain Labs graduate student mentored by Dr. Mingshan Xue, received the Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (NRSA) from the NIH, a prestigious four-year award for MD/PhD students. He is in the Neuroscience program at Baylor College of Medicine.

Katherine Kabotyanski receives top honors from the Society for Neuroscience and Baylor College of Medicine


Katherine’s research focuses on using real-time brain recordings to inform our basic understanding of complex neurocircuitry and develop novel therapies for neuropsychiatric disorders. She was selected for the above-mentioned awards for her project studying neurobehavioral biomarkers of emotional state.
